August 17th Whisky Rare Cask W.13 - Finition Laphroaig & Jack Daniel's is a whisky with exceptional finishes made in a Belgian Chai under the supervision of a Master Chai. On the palate, this whisky offers hints of honey, almonds, vanilla and toasted corn.
Pairings and tasting advice for August 17th Whisky
August 17th Whisky Rare Cask W.13 should be enjoyed at the end of a good meal. It is recommended not to add ice, as the cold affects the volatility of the aromas and the perception of the flavours on the palate. The ideal temperature for serving this whisky is room temperature (around 21°C). It goes wonderfully well with a piece of dark chocolate or a good cigar.
Chai master notes
- Nose: an oily nose with a hint of honey, typical of the time spent in bourbon casks. This is followed by a very pure vanilla flavour reminiscent of crème brûlée due to its time in Laphroaig casks.
- Palate: honey, almonds, vanilla and a hint of toasted corn. Then comes a more earthy, medicinal, slightly camphorated touch. With its own character, we are approaching the Scottish style.
- Finish: the peat is more present here. Long finish, offering a fat texture but with a slightly more woody, drier presence. Finishes with a bitterness typical of Scottish citrus fruit.

- In the W.13 version, the whisky is aged for three years in oak casks. It then spends seven years in Laphroaig casks and a further year in Jack Daniel's casks
